Frequently asked questions

How do I set up Brickr? On first launch: grant Screen Time access, register your unlock key (an NFC tag or a QR code), then pick the apps you want to limit and set a daily minute limit for each.

I don’t have an NFC tag. Can I still use it? Yes. During setup choose “Scan QR” to use any QR code you have, or “Create QR” to generate one you can screenshot or print and keep somewhere out of easy reach.

An app got blocked — how do I get back in? Open Brickr, tap “Scan to unbrick”, and tap your NFC tag or scan your QR code. Apps unlock for the rest of the day and limits reset at midnight.

I can’t reach my tag/QR. Is there another way? Yes — the unlock screen has an “Emergency unbrick” option. Use it sparingly; it’s meant for genuine emergencies.

Does Brickr see my data? No. Everything stays on your device. Brickr has no account, server, ads, or tracking. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Why does it need a real iPhone? NFC and Apple’s Screen Time blocking only work on a physical device, not the Simulator.

The block isn’t triggering. Make sure Screen Time access is granted (Settings tab shows a green dot), and that the app you expect to block has a limit set on the Today tab.
