Privacy Policy — Paperbeam

Effective date: 19 August 2026

Paperbeam (“the app”, “we”, “our”) is a document scanner for iPhone. This policy explains how the app handles your information. In short: the app does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. Everything stays on your device.

Information we collect

None. Paperbeam does not collect, store on our servers, or transmit any personal information. We operate no servers that receive your data, and the app contains no analytics, advertising, or third‑party tracking.

How your scans are handled

Camera

The app uses your device camera solely to let you scan documents. Captured images are processed on your device and saved to the app’s local storage. The camera is never used in the background.

Face ID / passcode

If you mark a scan as protected, the app asks the system to authenticate you with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode before opening it. This is performed by iOS. The app never accesses, stores, or receives your biometric data — it only receives a success/failure result.

Sharing

When you share or export a document (for example, as a PDF or a password‑protected PDF), you initiate that through the standard iOS share sheet. Where the file goes is your choice and is handled by iOS and the destination app you pick.

iCloud (only if you enable it)

If a future version offers iCloud sync and you turn it on, your scans are stored in your own private iCloud account, governed by Apple’s iCloud terms. We have no access to that data. This version does not sync to iCloud unless you have explicitly enabled it.

Children’s privacy

The app is safe for all ages and does not collect any data from anyone, including children.

Data retention and deletion

Because all data lives on your device, you are in full control. Deleting a scan removes it from the app. Deleting the app removes all of its data from your device.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page and revise the effective date above.
